Let the learning begin!

This week we started to look further into our community. By doing this we established that a community is a connection between people formed by a common interest or area. After this, we started to look at the different types of communities that exist and why they exist. We learnt that not every community is the same and variables such as location and interests can affect the way in which they function.

Alongside this, we also investigated Jeannie Baker's book, Window. This book allowed us to look at things from another perspective. We adapted her concept of 'outside the window' and used it to draw what is outside our window. This allowed us to see how every person has a different perspective because we all live in different areas. This is the same as a community. The surroundings and location can affect the reason for a community.

Towards the end of the week, we got to email a class in Europe. They will hopefully reply and help us with our research. We want to know whether a community over there is different to the common community we have over here. It will be interesting to get a response.
